What we do
Salaam Baalak Trust aims to provide a sensitive and caring environment to street and working children and other children on the margins of society. It seeks to dissolve the barriers that rob children of the opportunity to realize their rights.
Our objectives are divided in 4 departments:
In the capital of India, the Salaam Baalak Trust has a total of 18 centers (13 contact points and 5 shelters home) providing full-time and short-stay facilities to children in need of care and protection. A sense of security and rehabilitation to normal life. Learn more
Street children are exposed to innumerable infections and diseases. Due to lack of proper guidance, these children have little or no understanding of sanitation and hygiene. Our immediate effort is to take care of their medical needs and psychological needs. Learn more
EDUCATION AND SOCIAL INCLUSION
"Education is not the answer, but education linked with livelihood is the answer for street children", said Dr Mrs Praveen Nair, Chairperson at Salaam Baalak Trust. Thus, we strengthen the independent will of children and prepare them for a life of their own forms. Learn more
Salaam Baalak Trust encourages the use of creative and performing arts to exhibit the talents of children such as photography, theatre, dance and puppetry. Other activities like sport, travels and cinema are also promoted. Learn more
