Chalta Firta School admits 45 children into formal school: In an effort to ensure the right to education, Chalta Firta School admits 45 children including 30 girls into regular school programme. The mobile school has also reached to about 500 children who haven't gone to a school through its unique non-formal education programme during the first quarter of its operation.
Chalta Firta School is an initiative under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (Universalisation of Elementary Education Programme) supported by Govt. of NCT of Delhi. The mobile school holds classes for two hours at four different spots; Kaliwadi near Gole Dak Khana, Behind Guru Nanak Eye Hospital near Zakir Hussein College, ITO and GB Road,Ajmerigate.
Activities like television screening, non formal education, group discussions on health hygiene, social skills, counseling, games and first aid are conducted at the sites. At the end of the session, supplementary nutrition is also provided. The programme focuses on children who are out of school and ensure that they receive non formal education and subsequently attend a regular school. |
